What is it to be an Empath?
True story; I’m at a stop light scrolling through a popular Empath Group on Facebook and a sweet person asks; “What is it to be an Empath”? I read the top response; “Cursed”. Light turns green, I’m not able to respond. My first thought was; “That’s bleak”, but as I’m driving it really gets to me and I’m pissed off. When I try to get back to it it’s been covered up because no one gave our lovely Empath an actual answer. This bothers me so much because I just published my book Empath to Self Love, and this response was closer to hate, than love. So this is my response, I’m forming a blog so that we as Empaths can control the narrative a bit better than a Facebook group and get better together.
To my darling who asked; “What is it to be an Empath”? You must know, there are tough parts, but there it also brilliance there. The person who responded “Cursed” is, for themselves, correct. They are most likely operating at a resonance level where they are picking up everyone else at that same resonance level (a version of Empathic Karma), and in their experience it’s a curse. This unfortunately is an ignorant answer to the question at heart, one that I set out to correct through the text in my book.
Darling, here’s the real answer that you seek; being an Empath is Brilliance and Genius. To understand this, you must know how it starts. Being Empathic starts in the womb, and it’s your communication method with your mother, this then branches to your father, and without words you are able to communicate with your parents and your immediate support system. Your parents in turn are able to communicate with you most times, although few equate this to being Empathic (It is!). Everyone is born an Empath, and some people retain this despite societal pressures to replace Empathy with language through education. Why Genius? You above all others have the ability to use your whole intelligence, because you communicate on a human level, despite the limitations of language. So what is it to be an Empath? Brilliance and Genius.
This has inspired me, I’m starting this blog out of love. Think of it as an updated Dear Abby dedicated to Empaths. If you would like my take on your challenges as an Empath, please fill out the form. If I don’t get form responses, that’s ok, I’ll search the Facebook groups for poor answers once in a while, and attempt to provide love in response. If I do get form responses, I may have to pick and choose, me not addressing something doesn’t mean I don’t care, it means I have to take care of my family and myself too.
